The Generalitat will allocate 10 million euros in the 2026 budgets to improve telecommunications in Alt Pirineu and Aran, aiming to eliminate mobile coverage dead spots.

The Government Delegate for Alt Pirineu and Aran, Sílvia Romero, has announced that the Generalitat's budgets for 2026 include a 10 million euro allocation for the installation of antennas and coverage towers. The goal is to significantly enhance telecommunications in the region and eradicate so-called "dead spots" in signal.
The delegation is working "very actively" with the Centre de Telecomunicacions i Tecnologies de la Informació de la Generalitat de Catalunya (CTTI) to identify suitable locations for these new infrastructures. The initiative aims to facilitate road access and the necessary electricity supply for companies to carry out installations. These tasks will be undertaken in collaboration with local municipalities and with support from state aid.
Municipalities such as Soriguera, in Pallars Sobirà, and Pont de Bar and la Vansa i Fórnols, in Alt Urgell, are among the locations currently experiencing deficiencies in mobile phone coverage.
Romero also highlighted that the budget project forecasts a total investment of 63.1 million euros for Alt Pirineu and Aran, a 49% increase compared to the 2023 accounts. These funds will be used to "update public services and advance in housing access, territorial cohesion, economic prosperity, defense of Catalan language, and self-government".
Other significant projects for the region include waste treatment centers in Cerdanya and Pirineu-Aran (with 10.2 million euros) and improvements to the ski resorts of La Molina, Espot, Port Ainé, and Boí Taüll (with 5.2 million euros). The counties of Cerdanya and Alt Urgell will receive the highest allocation, with 16.8 million euros each, followed by Pallars Jussà with 13.8 million.
Within this budget, three specific projects stand out for these regions: an intervention at the sports area of the Palau de Gel in Vielha (with 200,000 euros), the construction of a covered swimming pool in Rialp, in Pallars Sobirà (with 1.6 million euros), and the creation of a designated area for motorhomes in Coll de Nargó, in Alt Urgell.
