Commuters using the N-260 highway, known as the Pyrenean Axis, are reporting dangerous driving conditions between Pont de Bar and Martinet this February.

The road surface connecting Alt Urgell and Cerdanya has significantly deteriorated since late last year. Large potholes have appeared across the stretch, worsened by freezing temperatures and the intensive use of salt to prevent ice formation.
The Government has stated that full resurfacing will not take place until spring, as warmer weather is required to ensure the asphalt's durability. Local authorities are calling for immediate temporary solutions to prevent accidents in the meantime.

"I understand that with this weather you cannot apply tar because it would not hold, but there must be some solution because it is a danger. It must be very well signaled."

The issue has reached the Parliament of Catalonia and the Senate, where political groups have filed formal complaints regarding the state of the N-260 and the safety risks for non-local drivers.
