The La Seu d'Urgell City Council, led by Mayor Joan Barrera, has awarded the contract for sidewalk improvements in the Castellciutat industrial estate, involving an investment of 127,091 euros, with work expected to start this February.

The repair work, with an exact budget of 127,091 euros, has been awarded to the company Àrids i Formigons Pont d'Espia. The start of the works was postponed since its award at the end of 2025 to avoid interruptions due to the Christmas holidays.
The action responds to the need to improve the condition of pedestrian sections in this industrial area, located at the western entrance of the municipality next to the N-260 road. The main issue is the growth of tree roots planted since the polygon's development in 1992, which have caused the concrete pavement to lift.

"The sidewalks in this area need attention because nothing has been done for a long time, and the uplift of the pavement even endangers the circulation of people passing through."

The mayor indicated that the repair was agreed upon with the managers of the local companies, who had been requesting this improvement for some time. The industrial complex currently consists of five streets (A, B, C, D, and E) and houses companies from various sectors such as automotive, logistics, food, and carpentry, among others.
