Rosa Andorrà, mayor of El Pont de Bar, and Roser Bombardó, of Montellà i Martinet (the Cerdanya region), have joined forces to demand comprehensive intervention from the Spanish Government on a three-kilometer stretch of the Pyrenean Axis. These potholes, which have proliferated over the past two months, are considered a serious risk to road safety.
“"We cannot wait for good weather, we demand a quick repair because it is very dangerous to drive on this stretch."
The mayors criticize that punctual repairs, which they describe as "patches," are insufficient for a national road with a high volume of traffic. Rosa Andorrà detailed that the condition of the pavement has already caused incidents, such as the detachment of a neighbor's car trailer. Furthermore, the potholes hinder the circulation of caravans, affecting local tourism.
Simultaneously, the municipalities regret the delay in starting work to install the fiber optic cable along the shoulder of the N-260, a project agreed upon almost a year ago in the Bilateral Infrastructure Commission. This situation forces residents of El Pont de Bar to pay for more expensive internet services and complicates distribution in Montellà.
Sources from the subdelegation of the Spanish Government in Lleida acknowledged that the State Roads delegation is aware of the road's condition, attributing the deterioration to recent intense rainfall. They reported that the work will be carried out through the annual pavement rehabilitation contract, as soon as weather conditions permit.
