A landslide caused by excessive humidity cut off the municipal access road to Sant Joan Fumat, Ars, Asnurri, and Civís on Wednesday at noon, isolating about a hundred residents in Les Valls de Valira.

The incident occurred at kilometer point 5-6 of the road, which is municipally owned. The mayor of Les Valls de Valira, Ricard Mateu, explained that the landslide, caused by accumulated water and humidity, left a hundred residents without direct access.
After initial work by a municipal operator to enable foot access, earth removal efforts allowed the road to be provisionally opened in the afternoon. Mateu recommended driving with caution and announced that cleaning work and technical studies to stabilize the terrain would continue the next day, as the current state poses a risk to daily commuters.
The mayor lamented that these episodes are becoming increasingly frequent due to climate change. He emphasized the urgent need for action, noting that the alternative route is a forest track severely damaged by storms, only suitable for off-road vehicles.

"Once the extent of the damage is known, it will be necessary to request extraordinary or emergency aid."

On the same Wednesday, another detachment of rocks and earth occurred on the road from Noves to Taús. Furthermore, work following the landslide on Tuesday on the C-14, near Hostalets de Tost (municipality of Ribera d'Urgellet), still required alternating traffic while the safety of the slope was being assessed.
