Data provided by the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya confirmed fresh snow depths of 50 centimeters in Boí, 38 in Espot, and 37 in Lac Redon. Altitudes above 2,000 meters in Alta Ribagorça, Pallars Sobirà, and Val d'Aran exceeded 30 centimeters of accumulation, covering municipalities like Pont de Suert in white.
The heavy snowfall led to the closure of three roads, including the access to the Port Ainé ski resort, the BV-4024 at Coll de Pal, and the N-260 at Port Cantó. Furthermore, according to Trànsit (Traffic), chains were required on a dozen routes, especially in the Western Pyrenees, such as the C-28 at Port de la Bonaigua and the L-500 between Pont de Suert and Vall de Boí.
The easterly storm also delivered record rainfall, exceeding 78.9 liters per square meter in Vilanova de Meià and 73.4 mm in Tremp. The Bombers (Firefighters) handled over forty calls in the Lleida emergency region, mainly due to rockfalls, landslides, and fallen trees.
Protecció Civil has activated both the Neucat and Inuncat plans, and therefore called for responsibility and prudence, asking people to avoid activities in the mountains.
During the afternoon, the floodgates of the Mitjana reservoir were opened to release water at 51 m3/s, prompting a warning about a possible rise in the Segre river level. The avalanche risk remains at level 2-3 in Val d’Aran, the Pallaresa area, and Cadí Moixeró, with forecasts predicting an increase today.
