The mobilization, which is replicated across various parts of Catalonia and Europe, aims to pressure the European Union not to ratify the agreement with the South American bloc, as they believe it severely harms them economically. In the Lleida region, the main cuts were located on the N-230, affecting both directions in el Pont de Suert, and on the A-2 in Fondarella, heading towards Barcelona.
The protesters stated that they would maintain the total blockade on truck traffic on the two routes connecting the Iberian Peninsula with France, although they have reopened the passage for tourist vehicles.
One of the most critical points was Pontós, near the French border, where nearly a hundred tractors entered the AP-7 around three in the morning, forcing the motorway to be cut in both directions. Although the N-II was also initially cut, the farmers agreed to reopen this road only for tourists starting mid-morning on Thursday.
In addition to the blockades in the Lleida and Alt Empordà regions, traffic disruptions were also planned for Thursday on the A-27 at the port of Tarragona, the N-340 in el Vendrell, the C-38 at Coll d'Ares, and the C-17 and C-25 roads in Central Catalonia.
