New SEM operational base in Barruera, Vall de Boí.

The Town Council of Vall de Boí has handed over the former music school building in Barruera to the Emergency Medical System (SEM) to establish a new operational ambulance base.

This new facility is part of the implementation of Catalonia's new healthcare transport model and signifies a substantial improvement for healthcare services in the Alta Ribagorça region, particularly in Vall de Boí.
The base will ensure a permanent ambulance presence in Vall de Boí during peak visitor seasons, operating 12 hours daily in summer and 8 hours daily in winter. This enhanced coverage will facilitate quicker responses to health emergencies, improving assistance for both residents and visitors.
Vall de Boí, a region with high year-round tourist and sporting activity, necessitates healthcare resources adapted to these demands.
The Town Council views this initiative as a crucial step in enhancing municipal public services and appreciates the inter-administrative collaboration that made this project possible.
The new base aims to reduce response times and strengthen healthcare coverage in a mountainous area characterized by significant geographical dispersion and substantial seasonal population influx.
