The hermitage of Sant Nicolau de Pinyana, located near El Pont de Suert, has been declared Local Cultural Heritage for its protection and conservation.

The municipal plenary of El Pont de Suert recently approved the declaration of the Sant Nicolau de Pinyana hermitage as Local Cultural Heritage. This designation comes after decades of institutional and academic neglect, as it was not previously listed in the Inventory of Cultural Heritage of Catalonia.
The initiative, driven in collaboration with residents of Pinyana and nearby towns in the Alta Ribagorça region, such as Ciervas, Naens, Burguet, and Cadolla, aims to safeguard this valuable Romanesque temple.
To scientifically document the temple and establish the foundation for its future preservation, the council has commissioned an exhaustive technical and photogrammetric study from the Institut d'Estudis Ilerdenses. The file already has the favorable report from the bishopric of Lleida, the current owner of the property.
The declaration will become final once ratified by the plenary of the comarcal council of Alta Ribagorça, the administrative body responsible for granting this heritage protection status.
