The intervention involved replacing the yokes of both bells with new treated natural wood elements, respecting the original typology and functionality. The entire anchoring structure, including the new yokes and clappers, has also been consolidated and repaired, and the bells have been reinstalled in their original location.
The work, which lasted three months and cost 15,714.27 euros (VAT included), was supervised by technical staff from the Heritage Area of the Conselh Generau d’Aran. The EMD of Gessa collaborated in the removal and reinstallation of the pieces.
This action allows for the recovery and preservation of the bells of the Sant Pèir de Gessa church, an element of Aran's architectural and cultural heritage, of Romanesque origin although the bell tower dates from the 17th century.
The Conselh Generau d’Aran thus reaffirms its commitment to the conservation and maintenance of Aran's heritage, highlighting the territory's historical and cultural assets.
