The work, stemming from the international seminar of the same title held in Olot in 2024, explores the inseparable relationship between color and landscape. The book was organized by the Observatory with support from Bòlit, Centre d’Art Contemporani, and the Olot City Council.
According to the Minister of Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition, Sílvia Paneque, color is key to perceiving changes in our environment, awakening emotions, and giving character to places, reinforcing collective identification. Cultures have also attributed diverse meanings to colors over time.
The presentations included in the book analyze how color influences our relationship with everyday landscapes and how to incorporate it more consciously and effectively into landscape interventions. It also reflects on the contribution of the art world.
Among the articles are studies on painting in the Vall d’en Bas, methodology for creating color charts for historic centers, or landscape color as an ecological indicator and the impact of climate change.
The book, part of the “Plecs de Paisatge” collection, aims to delve into the role of color in landscape management and intervention. It can be purchased physically from the Observatory's website or downloaded for free in digital format.
