The main focus affects about 32 hectares, while a second focus extends over an additional 39 hectares. Approximately 30 hectares of the total are located in the peripheral protection zone of the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park.
The Bombers de la Generalitat (Generalitat Firefighters) have worked intensively throughout Sunday, using aerial resources such as three helicopters and a water bomber, due to the complex terrain. Specialized units (GRAF and EPAF) were airlifted to execute defense lines and carry out technical fire maneuvers to contain the fire within the established containment axes.
In the afternoon, the fire generated a pyrocumulus cloud due to ascending wind currents. Aerial resources carried out water drops in the lower areas to prevent the fire's spread. In parallel, GRAF and EPAF units worked in the higher areas to break continuity paths and prevent flames from reaching the Vall de Boí.
Firefighters warn that the fire could remain active for several more days. The boundaries they are trying to protect are, to the north, the Escobedieso ravine; to the south, the crest of the Munyidor ravine; to the west, the Noguera Ribagorçana river, to prevent it from leaving Catalonia; and to the east, a high pasture area near the Vall de Boí.
The terrain's verticality and lack of access hinder manual tasks and the use of ground-based water lines. Therefore, containment is primarily carried out with aerial means. During the night, the perimeter has been reviewed and the area surveyed with drones to monitor its evolution.
