This initiative, coming after many years, will allow the council to have land available for housing in the center of Vilaller. Mayor María José Erta explained that negotiations are underway with the Society for the Management of Assets from Bank Restructuring (Sareb) to formalize the transfer of ownership of this plot.
“"Of course, we wanted to confirm it with Sareb itself, because before knowing they were donating the plot, we hadn't heard anything about it."
Erta clarified that the plot has no associated charges and that interest in recovering this space dates back a long time. In fact, a previous project had already been planned, and Sareb even offered a purchase price in 2016, which the council rejected at the time.
The current priority is to find the formula to make the construction of these flats, all intended for rent, a reality. The mayor noted that, although they did not yet have the plot when the Government announced its plan to mobilize land for affordable housing, they hope to be able to apply for a second call.
“"Without a secretary, everything goes slower."
Furthermore, Erta lamented that the lack of a municipal secretary is slowing down the town council's operations, including the approval of the annual budget. She added that this situation is a recurring problem and that, despite having the support of the Comarcal Council, procedures are progressing slowly. The mayor suggested that the simplest solution would be to transfer the plot to the Generalitat to drive the project.
