The Capellades City Council, through ERC Capellades, has paid tribute to President Companys, executed on October 15, 1940, with various activities recalling historical memory.

This Thursday, ERC Capellades began the events with salutes in honor of President Companys, executed by the Franco dictatorship at the Montjuïc castle moat. The rain respected the event.
In the afternoon, in front of the monument dedicated to the President, different political parties made a floral offering. The Councilor for Culture, Àngel Soteras, delivered a speech comparing the current political situation, marked by the housing crisis and general elections, with historical moments, emphasizing the importance of looking back to face major challenges and preserve historical memory.
The event was accompanied musically by cellist Edmon Bosch.
As part of the tribute activities, last Saturday the play "El mestre i el mar" by the company Mar Vivir was performed. The performance narrated the true story of the Republican teacher Antoni Benaiges, also assassinated at the beginning of the civil war, placing historical memory at the center of the theme.
