The constituent plenary session of the national secretariat of the Assemblea Nacional Catalana (ANC) has elected Josep Vila Boix as its new president for the next two years, with Lluís Llach taking on the vice-presidency.

The vote, which took place on April 25, 2026, at the Museu de la Pell in Igualada, resulted in Vila's election in the first round, securing 39 out of 58 votes cast, thus exceeding the required qualified majority. This election contrasts with the one two years ago, which necessitated multiple ballots.
The previous president, the singer-songwriter Lluís Llach, chose not to seek re-election due to health reasons but accepted the vice-presidency. This decision, according to an ANC statement,

Llach was the most voted candidate in the preceding elections, held between April 14 and 18, with 1,972 votes. The new secretary of the entity is Ariadna Heinz, while Blanca Currià has been appointed treasurer.
The ANC emphasized that the selection of officials was conducted in an atmosphere of
