Data published by the Observatori el Treball i Model Productiu (Labor and Productive Model Observatory) of the Generalitat de Catalunya's Department of Business and Labor confirms that the figure of 6,273 unemployed represents an increase of 99 people out of work compared to the end of December 2025.
This increase breaks the positive trend with which the region closed 2025, when 6,174 unemployed people were registered, the lowest figure for a December since 2007. Despite the rise, the registered unemployment rate remains slightly below 10%, settling at exactly 9.96%.
Regarding the regional capital, Igualada, January ended with 1,904 unemployed, 44 more than the preceding month, and an unemployment rate of 9.62%.
Several municipalities in Anoia exceed the 10% unemployment rate barrier. The most affected are Santa Margarida de Montbui (13.88%), Santa Maria de Miralles (12.70%), La Torre de Claramunt (12.09%), and Vilanova del Camí (11.85%). Other localities with rates above 10% include Cabrera d’Anoia, Vallbona d’Anoia, Els Hostalets de Pierola, Orpí, Piera, and Carme.
