The forecast of extreme fire danger has led to the cancellation of the hot air balloon flights for the European Balloon Festival, which were scheduled from Thursday to Sunday. The decision is based on the Generalitat's resolution expanding prevention and restriction measures in natural areas to minimize forest fire risk.
For safety reasons, the balloons will not take off while adverse weather conditions and decreed restrictions remain in place. The use of flame burners to heat the air and landings in vegetated areas are the main risk factors.
The cancellation exclusively affects the hot air balloon flights. The rest of the festival's program remains intact, including the Night Glow on Saturday night, which takes place in an urban area. The Vent Igloos activities throughout the city and the proposals at Parc Central also continue, such as the show Iglús de Llum, the Market made.igd with local commerce and catering, family activities, and concerts.
The organization reminds attendees that there will be food and drink points, and Parc Central will be available for picnics during the concerts.
The European Balloon Festival is celebrating its 30th edition in Igualada this year, bringing together about fifty balloons from around the world and an extensive program of activities between July 8th and 12th.
