Despite images circulating that showed flames very close to the site, initial reports confirm that the building has been saved from the fire. The proximity of the blaze had caused significant concern among residents of La Pobla de Claramunt and the Conca d'Òdena.
The local council is waiting for the Generalitat's Heritage department to carry out a technical inspection to assess whether the monument has suffered any minor impact or damage resulting from the proximity of the flames. So far, any destruction of the site has been ruled out.
Claramunt Castle is one of the most significant heritage sites in Anoia. Documented since the year 978, it has been a strategic point for territorial control for centuries, historically linked to the lords of Claramunt and later to the Cardona family.
