The El Bruc City Council is facing backlash from local forest owners following the initial approval of a path inventory that designates numerous private tracks as public property.

The Association of Owners of the Montserrat Surroundings and the Boscat federation warn that the document includes around 90 paths, totaling over 100 kilometers. Owners claim the inventory was drafted without field consultation, using 19th-century maps that place public paths through private dining areas and protected zones of the Montserrat Natural Park.

"It is like having an apartment where the hallway is for public use and the community can walk through the middle of your home."

Jordi Tarradas · Manager of Boscat
Mayor Rafael Galvan stated that the goal is not expropriation but identifying paths eligible for maintenance grants. The council has extended the period for formal objections to review each case individually, while the Barcelona Provincial Council maintains that the study is a starting point for objective data on public usage.
