The investigation began in May 2025 after several reports of thefts using the siembra (distraction) method. The suspects targeted vulnerable elderly victims at the local health center, distracting them with excuses while an accomplice stole personal belongings from their cars.

The four detainees, who have nearly 60 criminal records, were caught in the act on February 13. They face charges of theft, robbery with violence, fraud, and criminal organization membership. They appeared before the Igualada court on February 16.
