Eighteen civil society organizations in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia launched the Taula per la Llengua platform this Monday, aiming to boost the social use of Catalan and safeguard the linguistic rights of its speakers.

The driving entities, notably the Assemblea Nacional Catalana (ANC), Òmnium Alt Penedès, the Ateneu Agrícola, and the Club Esportiu Noia, observe that recent linguistic usage surveys confirm a worrying drop in the social use of the language.

"This situation threatens our collective identity and compromises social cohesion, as well as the real integration of newcomers."

The platform's spokespersons, Xavier Jarque, Montse Mata, and Montse Estruch, published the founding manifesto. This document urges the City Council to assume a real commitment and a proactive stance in defending linguistic rights.
The manifesto is also addressed to the associative fabric, businesses, educational centers, and media. Furthermore, it directly calls upon Catalan speakers to maintain the language and encourages non-speakers to start using it.
A total of 18 organizations are part of the initiative, including the Associació Festa de la Fil·loxera, Som Sant Sadurní, the Bàsquet Sant Sadurní, the Coral Sant Sadurní, and the Diables se m’n refum, among others.
