The Barcelona Court has sentenced a man from Igualada to six years in prison for the sexual assault of a 16-year-old transgender minor in April 2021.

The court found it proven that the defendant took the victim to an abandoned building on Soledat Street. During the assault, the minor lost consciousness due to severe anxiety. The sentence includes a 30,000 euro compensation for physical injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder.
The ruling also imposes 13 years of prohibited communication and a restraining order. Although prosecutors sought up to 15 years, the court applied a lower sentence as it did not find specific aggravating factors regarding the victim's vulnerability.
