The Mayor of Igualada, Marc Castells, met with the Secretary of State for Housing, David Lucas, in Madrid this week to discuss new investment opportunities for the city's residential sector.

The discussion focused on the upcoming 2026-2030 State Housing Plan and the ongoing deployment of Next Generation EU funds. The city aims to secure financial support for both the renovation of existing buildings and the development of new affordable rental units.
Currently, Igualada is overseeing the renovation of 286 homes, improving energy efficiency for over 850 residents. Additionally, the city council plans to start the construction of 36 affordable apartments on Virtut Street in the near future.
