The Business Union of Anoia (UEA) warned on Monday, November 17, 2025, about the structural shortage of qualified talent in the Anoia region, a factor that is curbing the growth and productive capacity of local companies.

The UEA already warned of this problem in 2018, within the framework of the II Anoia Business Forum, and seven years later the situation has become an “urgency”. According to the entity, some companies in Anoia are forced to limit production or reject new orders due to the impossibility of finding enough trained personnel.

The lack of qualified and trained talent is the main bottleneck limiting the growth of companies, the consolidation of new projects, and the productive capacity of our region.

To face this challenge, the UEA calls for a “real and stable” territorial agreement involving administration, educational centers, companies, and socio-economic agents. The most urgent demand is the construction of an Industrial Vocational Training building sized for the current reality of Anoia and prepared for the future needs of sectors such as health, technology, and advanced services.
The association also emphasizes the responsibility of companies in the continuous training of their teams, as competitiveness depends on investment in personnel. It is highlighted that almost 50% of the subsidized training resources available in Catalonia (more than 100 million euros annually) are lost due to lack of use, a figure the UEA deems unacceptable.
To address these issues, the Business Union of Anoia will organize the ninth edition of the Anoia Business Forum on November 26th, under the motto “Talent and Training: Future Strategies”. During the event, the 9th report “Company and Progress” will be presented, which gathers the voices of more than 250 business actors and serves as a “call to action” for the progress of the region.
