The incident occurred at approximately 8:45 AM at kilometer 111. The vehicle lost control and flipped over, blocking all eastbound lanes. Mossos d'Esquadra police officers managed the traffic, eventually reopening the road for light vehicles.

Five Fire Brigade units attended the scene to control an oil leak and smoke coming from the cabin. The driver was treated by Emergency Medical Services (SEM) and taken to Althaia Hospital in Manresa with non-life-threatening injuries.

Veterinarians confirmed that the majority of the pigs died in the accident. The trucking company deployed a crane and a secondary vehicle to clear the wreckage and transport the remains from the site.
