Two motorcyclists lost their lives in separate accidents on the C-252 in Garriguella on Sunday evening and on the B-142 in Polinyà on Monday morning. In the Garriguella case, the collision involved two cars and the victim's motorcycle, and the Mossos d’Esquadra are investigating the causes. In Polinyà, the deceased suffered a head-on collision with a car.
These two fatalities add to the two individuals who died on Sunday afternoon in a serious accident on the A-2 near Jorba (Anoia). The incident, which occurred between a van and a car, also resulted in four less severe injuries who were taken to the hospital in Igualada. Catalan police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of this crash.
With these four deaths, the number of fatalities on Catalan roads this year has reached 49, of which 20 were motorcyclists, according to data from the Servei Català de Trànsit.
The accident on the A-2 in Jorba caused significant traffic disruptions in the direction of Barcelona, leading to up to five kilometers of congestion and delays exceeding one hour for drivers heading towards the Catalan capital.
