A technical meeting was held at the headquarters of the Consell Comarcal de la Cerdanya to discuss strategic issues for the region's environmental sustainability, focusing on water management.
The meeting was chaired by the president of the Consell Comarcal, Isidre Chia, and attended by the Minister of Environment, Josep Maria Isern; the representative of the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation, Josep Cordomí; the mayor of Puigcerdà, Joan Manel Serra; the mayor of Llívia, Albert Cruïlles; as well as representatives from the Catalan Water Agency and other mayors and municipal representatives from the Upper Cerdanya.
One of the main points was the need to regularize the situation of the Puigcerdà wastewater treatment plant, an facility managed by the Consell Comarcal. The connection with the SIVM of the Haute Vallée du Sègre et Régie des Eaux, existing since 2003, was discussed with the aim of moving towards its regularization and establishing an appropriate management framework.
Additionally, projects were analyzed to optimize the management of white and grey waters in the region, seeking more sustainable management of Cerdanya's water resources.
In the context of territorial growth, emphasis was also placed on the necessary actions to facilitate Puigcerdà, Llívia, and the municipalities of Upper Cerdanya in developing their urban plans.
The meeting highlighted the importance of cross-border collaboration and coordination between administrations to ensure an efficient water purification system that meets current and future needs.
