The arrival of Storm Kristin, the tenth storm to enter the Iberian Peninsula this season, has forced the Catalan Meteorological Service (Meteocat) to issue several alerts. Temperatures are expected to drop by up to 5ºC in just a few hours, marking a notable change from the beginning of the week.
Wind warnings affect at least ten regions, including the Barcelonès, Vallès Occidental, Baix Llobregat, Anoia, and Tarragonès, where gusts could exceed 70 km/h. These warnings will remain active throughout Wednesday morning and until early afternoon.
The passage of this front will also cause an intense maritime storm with waves that could exceed 2.5 meters in height along a large part of the Catalan coast.
Regarding the maritime storm, warnings have been activated from the Empordà to the Tarragonès. The areas of greatest concern, under orange alert, are concentrated between the municipalities of Lloret, Blanes, Sitges, and Vilanova. Protecció Civil has activated its emergency plans and urges the public to exercise extreme caution near the sea.
