The Igualada City Council, together with Rotary Club Igualada and the Igualada Association for UNESCO, has presented the fifth edition of RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) - Route for Peace, taking place on October 13th and 14th.

The event, now a fixture in the city's associative and educational calendar, aims to train and empower young people aged 16 to 30 in conflict resolution, human rights, and the culture of peace.
The program begins on Friday the 13th at the small hall of the Teatre Municipal l’Ateneu with a session open to the public, focusing on the reality in Afghanistan. The talk will feature Ahmad Sarmast, founder and director of the Afghanistan National Institute of Music, who led the evacuation of over 270 people after the Taliban's return.
On Saturday the 14th, the event will be part of the RYLA training sessions and will conclude with the traditional closing dinner at the Hotel Amèrica. This evening will include high-level talks on international law and humanitarian action, notably an intervention by Sor Lucía Caram to address the humanitarian crisis stemming from the war in Ukraine.
The Councilor for Cooperation of the Igualada City Council, Josep M. Carpi, highlighted the work of the organizing entities and Igualada's commitment to international solidarity, emphasizing initiatives like this that promote values of dialogue and coexistence.
