The Val d'Aran has taken a significant step in the new educational governance model with the establishment of the Institutional Commission for the Direction and Monitoring of the Educational Governance Zone, aiming to improve management and inclusion.

This initiative, promoted by the Department of Education and Vocational Training, primarily aims to optimize educational management, fostering inclusion, equity, and co-responsibility among public administrations. One of its fundamental pillars is the decentralization of decision-making, adapting them to the specific needs of the territory.

"What it does is recognize that responsibility in education belongs to all public administrations. It places all institutions in the territory concerned with education at the same level, so they can work together, in a coordinated manner and, above all, from proximity."

Sílvia Romero · Territorial Delegate of the Government in Alt Pirineu and Aran
The Val d'Aran is one of five territories in Catalonia where this educational governance model is being implemented as a pilot project. Other areas include l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, el Prat de Llobregat, Vic and its surrounding area, and Urgell – Tàrrega. The uniqueness of Aran, especially regarding its language and other cultural aspects, makes this project particularly relevant for the region.

"I hope it goes very well to strengthen our language."

Àngela Cases · Councillor for Knowledge of the Conselh Generau d'Aran
In addition to the commission, a coordinator has already been appointed for the Educational Governance Zone, ensuring the smooth operation of the program. Currently, a work plan is being finalized, which will detail the objectives and allow for a more precise evaluation of the results. The model seeks to strengthen collaboration between the Generalitat and local entities, reinforcing the role of municipalities in educational management to optimize resources and better adapt to changing needs.
Following the commission's establishment, a public presentation of the new model was made to the mayors and directors of educational centers in Aran, emphasizing the importance of local participation in this educational transformation process.
