The unveiled plaque bears a fragment of the poem Cançon dera Garona: “Dera Val d'Aran me cali pera polida ribèra, qu'ei era mès bèra cunhèra, qu'an es rius de tot eth mon”. The event was presided over by the president of Lengua Viua, Imma Caubet, and the president of the EMD of Bagergue, Marc Tarrau. Other members of the collective and political representatives of the region were also present.
This inauguration in Bagergue is the first step in a series of events that will continue in the coming days in other villages of the Val d'Aran. On August 8th, there will be unveilings in Canejan and Sant Joan de Toran, and on August 9th, Salardú will conclude this cultural cycle.
These villages join Vielha, Montgarri, and Les, which already have commemorative plaques. The project, launched in 2024 to mark the 30th anniversary of Lengua Viua, aims to place panels with excerpts from the literary work of Mossèn Jusèp Condò Sambeat.
The collective Lengua Viua seeks to showcase the Aranés people's appreciation for their language and create a literary itinerary accessible to schoolchildren and visitors. The panels will include QR codes in five languages: Aranese, Spanish, Catalan, French, and English.
