Institutional and sports representatives gathered at a mountain ski resort.
The President of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alejandro Blanco, visited the Val d'Aran on January 27 with RFEDI to evaluate young talent and promote the creation of a high-performance snow center.
The institutional visit to the Baqueira Beret ski resort and the Centre de Tecnificació d’Espòrts d’Iuèrn dera Val d’Aran (CETEI) brought together Blanco with the president of RFEDI, May Peus España, the Sindica of Aran, Maria Vergés, and the Mayor of Naut Aran, César Ruiz-Canela. The goal was to highlight the work done with clubs and regional federations to boost young talent.
“
"There is a great history throughout this territory and I am sure that the best is yet to come. For me, it is a perfect day because we have seen the young people in the technical group who will represent Spain tomorrow, and this is sport in its purest state, it is a genuine pleasure."
During the meeting, the possibility of creating a high-performance snow and mountain center was discussed, aiming to make it a world reference. This project is considered a major boost to strengthen the sports base in the Pyrenees.
“
"There is a clear alignment on the part of all institutions to make this high-performance snow and mountain center a reality, or whatever it may be designated."
May Peus España emphasized that Blanco's presence is a recognition of the territory and the Pyrenees, offering support to athletes just days before the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will take place in the coming weeks.
