Construction work for the permanent Barnahus center has officially started in La Seu d'Urgell, aimed at providing comprehensive care for children and adolescents who have suffered sexual abuse.

Located in the Horta del Valira district, the new 980,000-euro facility will serve the entire Alt Pirineu i Aran region. The project follows a sustainable architectural design, featuring a single-story building integrated into the local landscape.

"It is important to have a proper facility where victims can receive all the necessary support to overcome this situation."

Joan Barrera · Mayor of La Seu d'Urgell
The service has been operating from a temporary location for two years, handling 64 cases in its first year alone. This new center is part of a wider network across Catalonia, inspired by a successful pilot program in Tarragona.
