The Department of Education and the Department of Interior have launched a pilot plan to incorporate Mossos d'Esquadra coexistence agents into 14 educational centers in Catalonia, including the Vall d'Aran, aiming to improve school coexistence.

This quarter, an experimental program has begun that foresees the presence of Mossos d'Esquadra coexistence agents in schools and institutes. This initiative, a result of collaboration between the departments of Education and Interior, seeks to strengthen school coexistence through prevention and mediation.
The measure, which had already been announced and has generated some debate, was explained by the Minister of Education, who detailed that the agents will be unarmed and out of uniform, and their work will focus on accompanying and advising educational staff. Their role is to complement existing work, without replacing teachers or other center professionals.

"There are no coexistence or security problems in Catalan schools. The agents will always be governed by the pedagogical criteria of the school administrations."

the Minister of Education
The pilot plan will be implemented in a total of 14 educational centers distributed across six different areas: the Vall d'Aran, Vic, Urgell, Sabadell, El Prat de Llobregat, and l'Hospitalet de Llobregat. The selection of centers was based on their typological diversity and territorial representativeness, as well as the willingness of their administrations, and not on the specific complexity or problems of each one.
Although the ministry has highlighted that various international educational systems and other autonomous communities already have similar figures, the proposal has generated protests and rejection from some sectors of the educational community. Nevertheless, the Minister has stated that more administrations are interested in participating in the trial.
