The Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, and the Síndica d’Aran, Maria Vergés, held a bilateral meeting at the Conselh Generau d’Aran to promote the transfer of competencies in urban planning and housing, and agree on resources for the Aran Housing Plan.

The meeting is part of the work carried out by the Conselh Generau d’Aran to reinforce its framework of competencies in urban planning and housing, as established by the Special Regime Law of Aran. The severe crisis of lack of affordable housing in the Val d’Aran is the central focus of the Aranese government's action.

"It is essential that all administrations work together to find short, medium, and long-term solutions regarding housing. The development of the Generalitat’s Plan 50.000 in Aran must be a priority for the Catalan government given the serious situation our territory is experiencing."

One of the key agreements reached was the transfer of resources by the Generalitat to provide the Conselh with technical staff. This personnel will work in the housing sector to develop actions contemplated in the Aran Housing Plan.
The development of the Plan 50.000 regarding housing, promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya, will also include actions in Aran that allow for the construction of new affordable rental housing. The Vielha e Mijaran City Council already offered a plot in the first call, and it is expected that other Aranese municipalities will offer municipal land in the second call.
Within the same bilateral meeting, the activation of the Sustainable Mobility Agenda Commission was also agreed upon, to discuss the necessary actions for the improvement of the C-28 road and other sustainable mobility actions in Aran. This commission is scheduled to meet next February.
