Retired nurse Sisco Maranges, current president of the Cancer Association in Lleida, emphasizes the need to decentralize oncology services to support patients in the Alt Pirineu region.

With a career spanning four decades at the Espitau Val d'Aran, Maranges now focuses on ensuring that rural areas receive the same level of care as urban centers. He highlights the success of the new Oncohematology Unit at Hospital del Pallars.

"I have always said that bringing treatment closer to the patient helps to cure. We have fought for oncological treatment to be available in all regional hospitals."

The association also promotes visibility through projects like the exhibition Dona i Càncer al Món Rural, currently hosted at the La Seu d'Urgell health center, showcasing the resilience of women facing cancer in rural environments.
