The Catalan Government and Conselh Generau advance in the transfer of hunting and fishing competencies

Minister Òscar Ordeig and Síndica Maria Verges met on Thursday, January 8, 2026, to formalize the transfer of hunting and fishing management to the Conselh Generau.

The Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, and the Síndica of Aran, Maria Verges, held a key meeting to address the transfer of competencies in forest management, hunting, and fishing. Ordeig emphasized that the Government complies with the law and transfers the management of hunting and fishing, along with corresponding economic resources, to the Aranese government.

This agreement is framed within Law 16/1990, dated July 13, concerning the special regime of the Val d'Aran. Article 20.3 of this regulation establishes the obligation of the Generalitat to transfer competencies and services to the Conselh Generau regarding matters such as fishing, hunting, and forestry exploitation.
During the meeting, Minister Ordeig also expressed his confidence in being able to materialize other pending agreements with the Aranese government throughout this year.
