The Conselh Generau d'Aran, through its Sports Area and Welfare and Health Assistance Services (SABS), is promoting the screening of the documentary Sustraiak to foster reflection, dialogue, and social cohesion in the Val d'Aran.
This initiative stems from working meetings between the Conselh Generau d'Aran, the SABS, and the Vielha e Mijaran City Council, with the shared goal of connecting social, educational, and sports policies. The aim is to contribute to making the Val d'Aran a more inclusive, equitable, and cohesive territory for all its inhabitants.
The screening of Sustraiak, a documentary exploring the roots, identity, and life processes of individuals in diverse contexts, is presented as an opportunity to generate collective awareness. It also seeks to foster spaces for debate and exchange of experiences among citizens. The action will be complemented by the possibility of bringing this content to young people, in collaboration with the INS d'Aran, to strengthen its educational and preventive impact.
Beyond the screening itself, this activity aims to highlight the transformative role of sports and the mountains as true elements of social cohesion. In territories like the Val d'Aran, sports transcend physical practice, becoming a space for encounter, inclusion, and community building where values such as respect, solidarity, teamwork, and personal improvement are promoted.
“
"These types of initiatives allow us to approach citizens in a direct and human way, giving voice to diverse realities and working for a Val d'Aran that is more just, inclusive, and free of discrimination. Participation and active listening are key to building public policies that respond to people's real needs."
“
"Sports are one of the great engines of social transformation in our territory. Through sports practice and contact with the mountains, we can generate opportunities, break down barriers, and strengthen bonds between people, building a more cohesive society with greater equality of opportunities for everyone."
The documentary will be screened free of charge for the public on April 17 at 7:00 PM at the Audiovisual de Vielha, until capacity is reached. This screening is part of a broader effort by the Conselh Generau d'Aran to foster a more participatory, respectful, and inclusive society, where all individuals have the opportunity to be part of it on equal terms.
