The conference, organized in collaboration with the Vilamòs Town Council and IRTA, aims to showcase the advancements of the OVIHUEC project, which highlights the capacity of extensive herds to reduce fire risk and enhance biodiversity.
The program will commence with educational talks on the importance of sustainable landscape management. Following this, there will be Aranese dances, a tasting of Pyrenean cheeses, and micro-theatre performances reflecting on rural life in Aran. The popular lunch, featuring OVIHUEC herd lamb as the main course, will take place in the Vilamòs marquee.
Tickets for the cheese tasting and lunch can be purchased at the Vilamòs Town Council or the Vielha Tourist Office between July 23rd and 31st. All proceeds will be donated to the Association against Cancer in the Aran Valley.
In the afternoon, the Aran pera Natura Association will organize family activities, including wool spinning workshops and fresh cheese and curd making. Attendance for these activities will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with a maximum capacity of 25 participants per workshop.
Throughout the day, Campasèra street will host a market featuring local producers. This initiative, funded by Fundación Biodiversidad, aims to generate economic activity through quality local derivative products, achieve herd self-sufficiency, and improve the working conditions of shepherds.
