The purchase of the property, owned by the State and located in the Baqueira 1500 parking area, involved an investment of 3.7 million euros. The aim is to recover a building that has been disused for years and incorporate it into public heritage to address housing needs in the region.
As a first step, the safety of the building and its surroundings will be ensured, along with necessary maintenance tasks. In parallel, a functional program will be developed to determine possible uses and intervention needs.
To coordinate the process, a working group will be established with the participation of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Conselh Generau d’Aran, and the Naut Aran City Council. This group will analyze usage alternatives, urbanistic and legal constraints, and the technical and economic feasibility of rehabilitation.
The housing situation in the Val d’Aran is characterized by a limited availability of homes for habitual residence (only 36%), high purchase prices, and a reduced rental offer, making housing access difficult for many population segments.
The recovery of this property will provide a heritage base for evaluating new public and affordable housing options in Aran, through coordination among the involved administrations and in line with the territory's needs.
