The Generalitat Firefighters received the accident alert at 7:05 PM. A rescue operation was launched, including the helicopter from the Aerial Means unit with members of the GRAE and a doctor from the SEM. Ground teams from the GRAE in Olot and several units from the volunteer fire stations of Castellfollit del Boix and Calaf were also mobilized.
The victim was located on a slope and firefighters accessed him by land. Through a winch maneuver from the helicopter, before dusk, the doctor and a GRAE rescuer reached the paraglider to assist him. Firefighters secured the area with ropes to facilitate evacuation. Despite efforts, the man died due to severe injuries.
Mossos d’Esquadra officers were dispatched to the scene to handle judicial proceedings and investigate the circumstances of the accident. Two SEM ambulances also attended.
