The Bages County Council, led by President Eloi Hernàndez, has demanded the immediate gratuity of the C-16 highway and a shock investment plan for the Rodalies commuter rail line in the Manresa-Barcelona corridor, following recent rail service collapses.

The county body submitted its request for immediate and structural measures to guarantee mobility in the region, arguing that serious incidents on Rodalies make the need for free access to the C-16 more evident than ever to maintain the competitiveness of Bages. They noted that if the Generalitat has lifted barriers on the C-32, it must also do so on the C-16.

"Bages cannot continue losing hours, opportunities, and competitiveness because the train fails and the roads collapse. We demand results: reliability in Rodalies, gratuity of the C-16, and a calendar of works with clear deadlines and responsible parties."

Demands directed at Madrid include a shock plan with reinforced trains, personnel, and real-time information, as well as a verifiable investment schedule for the Manresa-Barcelona corridor to end “decades of underfunding.” The Council points to the primary responsibility of the Spanish Government, Renfe, and Adif for the situation, caused by obsolete material and lack of maintenance.
In parallel, the County Council also asks the Generalitat for greater leadership in contingency management, train-bus schedule coordination, reinforcement of express lines, and unified information with automatic compensation for users. They also reinforce the historical request to accelerate the doubling of the C-55 and security improvements on the C-16, as rail collapses further saturate the roads.
