The bishop was highly critical of Donald Trump, stating that the cuts to humanitarian aid previously funded by the USA are a 'crime.' He compared the impact of these policies on the poor and sick to the violence of the extremist group Boko Haram.
“"What Trump is doing is a crime. It is no different from people who slit throats. Trump is like Boko Haram."
During his visit, he also highlighted the long-standing cooperation between the diocese of Yagoua and Barcelona, praising Cardinal Joan Josep Omella for his missionary spirit and humility.
