The Cardona City Council has launched reconstruction works on the retaining wall at Avinguda del Rastrillo, following a partial collapse on January 21st.

The project aims to restore safety to a primary entrance of the town. The landslide, located at the base of Cardona Castle, involved an eight-meter-high structure and caused damage to parked vehicles and electrical infrastructure.

"The absolute priority is to guarantee people's safety and act with maximum speed and rigor in the face of an unexpected situation."

Lluïsa Aliste · Mayor of Cardona
Workers will use natural stone to ensure the new structure blends with the historic surroundings. The council has salvaged the original rocks from the collapse to reuse them, honoring the wall's century-old history.
