Catalonia on alert for torrential rains up to 100 liters due to storm Regina

Civil Protection activates the Inuncat plan facing forecasts of intense showers and strong sea storms until Friday.

The Meteorological Service of Catalonia has issued a warning for rainfall that could exceed 100 liters per square meter due to the arrival of storm Regina this Thursday.

The episode of meteorological instability will put several areas of the country at risk between Thursday and Friday. Authorities have activated an orange alert level in regions such as Empordà, Garrotxa, Ripollès, Osona, Selva, and Vallès Oriental.
In addition to the rain, storm Regina will be accompanied by strong wind gusts that have already reached 72 km/h in coastal areas. Meteocat is maintaining active warnings for areas including Barcelonès, Baix Llobregat, and Tarragonès.
Regarding sea conditions, waves exceeding 2.5 meters in height are expected along the entire Catalan coast. Although the storm is expected to weaken by Friday afternoon, forecasts indicate a turbulent weekend with widespread storms.
