The Director of the Elderly Care Department at the Sant Andreu Salut Foundation, Dolors Fitó, has advocated in the Parliament of Catalonia for a future law for the elderly that is person-centered, with the necessary resources, and promotes the professionalization of care.

The representative of the Catalan Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology appeared before the committee drafting the Bill on the Elderly of Catalonia, within the Commission for Social Rights and Inclusion, alongside Daniel Rosselló. The entity emphasized the importance of the future law having an economic impact assessment and indicators for its monitoring and evaluation.
They also advocated for comprehensive, continuous care adapted to individual needs, as well as the recognition and professionalization of caregiving. The intervention highlighted technological innovation as a tool for human interaction, the fight against ageism, and the need to place the elderly at the center of decisions.
The Sant Andreu Salut Foundation encouraged parliamentary groups to work towards broad consensus for a law that addresses present and future challenges, reaffirming its commitment to close, humane care focused on the dignity, autonomy, and life projects of individuals.
