Community mobilization has successfully postponed the eviction of a family with school-aged children in the Xup neighborhood of Manresa, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday, February 24th.

The Muntanya del Drac school parents' association and the Xup neighborhood council reported that the suspension was achieved through the support of PAHC Bages and the Docents per l'Habitatge platform. The groups celebrated the delay but warned that the threat remains.
The court has already rescheduled the eviction for April 27th. Activists are targeting Unión de Créditos Inmobiliarios (UCI), a firm linked to Banco Santander, accusing the owner of failing to provide social housing as required by Catalan law for vulnerable residents.

"We cannot accept that speculation and the economic interests of these large companies take precedence over the fundamental right to a roof."
