A fire in an apartment block on Santa Llúcia street in Manresa this Sunday morning forced the evacuation of 19 residents from two buildings, resulting in two injuries due to smoke inhalation.

The fire was reported at 10:03 a.m. on Sunday on the ground floor of a four-story building located at Santa Llúcia street, number 27, in Manresa. Seven units of the Bombers de la Generalitat (Firefighters) were quickly mobilized to control the situation.
Upon the arrival of the Firefighters, the blaze had already fully engulfed the ground floor and had spread to the second floor of the adjacent building, number 25. Emergency services had to deploy a ladder truck to evacuate residents due to the heavy smoke accumulation in the stairwell.
The Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) attended to a total of 19 people from both buildings, all suffering from smoke inhalation. Following medical assessment, two individuals were transferred to Hospital Sant Joan de Déu – Althaia in a less serious condition, while the rest were discharged in situ.
Although the fire was stabilized around 10:18 a.m., a reactivation of smoke near 11:45 a.m. forced the emergency operation to remain active. Currently, the Firefighters and Social Services are evaluating the safety of the homes before allowing affected residents to return.
