The exhibition, which can be visited until April 6, uses a powerful visual metaphor: the contrast between a traditional photographic laboratory, complete with trays and red light, facing a simple computer, symbolizing the transition photography has undergone in the last half-century.
“"We have made a selection of photographs where the photographer's gaze is clearly visible."
The exhibition, curated by Josep Brunet, Jordi Martínez, Pura Travé, and Francesc Xavier Bataller, avoids chronological narrative and focuses on the key concept of the photographer's “gaze.” The entity selected snapshots from its archive and commissioned work from 39 members to explore concepts like hands, water, or shadows.
Foto Art Manresa was founded on December 7, 1976, as a split from Foto Club Manresa, driven by fourteen founders, including Ramon Grau, Rosalina Camps, and Albert Vidal, who sought an entity more focused on artistic practice.
The entity has occupied various locations in the capital of Bages, from the school in the Xup neighborhood to the anecdote of renting the premises on Saclosa street on the very day of the coup attempt of February 23, 1981, before finally settling at the Casal de les Escodines in 1987.
