Gimnàstic Youth Team secures home win and climbs out of relegation zone

An early goal by Urcan gave the Manresa team a vital 1-0 victory against Cornellà, moving them up to the eleventh position in the league table.

The Gimnàstic de Manresa youth team achieved a crucial 1-0 home victory against direct rival UD Cornellà on Sunday, February 8, 2026, allowing them to climb to eleventh place and exit the relegation zone.

The match started in the best possible way for the interests of the Manresa side, despite missing several key players. In the 3rd minute, Alex Urcan headed in a corner kick from a set-piece play at the far post, scoring the only goal of the match. This early strike proved sufficient to secure the three vital points.
The home team maintained their strong initial performance, dominating possession and creating clear chances. Nine minutes into the game, Cristian Domínguez had a good opportunity that was saved by the visiting goalkeeper, Fariña. The game was intense, marked by many midfield duels which the Nàstic players generally won, limiting Cornellà's threat on Lagunas' goal.
In the second half, despite the local team's continued possession, Cornellà had the clearest chance around the hour mark when local goalkeeper Lagunas made a crucial double save from two consecutive visitor shots. This did not distract Nàstic, who responded two minutes later with a clear chance from Galobardes that went just wide of the post, followed by a shot from Deluchi saved by Fariña.
In the final minutes, the visitors failed to seriously trouble Lagunas' goal again. In fact, Gimnàstic came closest to extending their lead when Galobardes hit the post. With this victory, the team is now three points ahead of UD Cornellà, the team currently occupying the relegation spot.
